Most local enterprise AI development today is essentially “wrapper engineering.” Developers take a Western foundation model, fine-tune it on a localized dataset, and hope the underlying architecture can handle the structural nuances of a new language. For engineering teams building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems in Vietnam, this approach hits a brutal hardware and performance wall. Standard models suffer from massive token taxes, quadratic VRAM explosions during long-document processing, and a fundamental lack of deep semantic alignment.

At DXTech, we realized that solving Vietnamese enterprise search required abandoning the “wrapper” mindset and completely rewriting the retrieval architecture. We did not simply fine-tune an existing open-source model; we engineered a native AI – Vietnamese embedding from the ground up, utilizing proprietary mathematical mechanisms to eliminate traditional compute bottlenecks.

The result of this rigorous R&D is clear. On the industry-standard Zalo Legal Text Retrieval benchmark, DeepX Embedding v1.0 achieves an nDCG@10 of 0.8162 (and Recall@10 of 0.9638). This establishes a new State-of-the-Art (SOTA) among sub-1B parameter models (< 1B params), outperforming the previous benchmark record (0.7813) by a staggering +3.49 points.

DeepX v1.0 (Vietnamese Embedding scored 0.8162 nDCG because it plays this game better than any sub-1B AI). It achieves this elite precision not through brute-force parameter scaling, but through a unique combination of a novel linear attention mechanism (Gated DeltaNet-2) with Hyperloop weight sharing, supported by two exclusive DXTech proprietary innovations. Here is the technical breakdown of the “magic” under the hood.

Overcoming the $O(n^2)$ Memory Crisis: Linear Attention (GDN-2)

The most significant pain point for developers processing legal contracts or dense enterprise data is the quadratic memory scaling of standard AI architectures. Traditional Transformer models rely on standard softmax attention. To compute the attention scores, the model creates an $N \times N$ matrix (where $N$ is the sequence length). If you double the length of your input document, the required VRAM quadruples. This $O(n^2)$ scaling is the direct cause of the dreaded “Out of Memory” (OOM) crashes that plague local RAG deployments.

To make DeepX v1.0 viable for enterprise-scale documents on consumer hardware, the DXTech team ripped out standard softmax attention entirely.

We replaced it with Gated DeltaNet-2 (GDN-2), a novel linear attention mechanism utilizing gated delta-rule recurrence. Instead of calculating attention across all previous tokens simultaneously in a massive matrix, GDN-2 processes information using a recurrent hidden state updated by a gating mechanism.

The Technical Impact:

  • Constant VRAM Footprint: The memory usage per token remains static regardless of the sequence length.
  • Massive Context Windows: This $O(n)$ time and memory efficiency enables blisteringly fast inference across long documents. DeepX v1.0 is comfortably trained to handle sequences up to 8,192 tokens without triggering memory spikes, allowing developers to embed entire corporate policies in a single pass without aggressive, context-destroying chunking strategies.

The Innovation of Extreme Compression: Hyperloop Weight Sharing

To create a model that was both hyper-accurate and highly deployable (sub-1B parameters), we implemented Hyperloop weight sharing. In a standard Transformer, each layer has its own unique set of weights (parameters). In a Hyperloop architecture, the model recursively loops the data through the same physical transformer block multiple times. You achieve the computational depth of a massive model while only storing a fraction of the parameters in your GPU memory.

However, recursive weight sharing introduces a fatal mathematical flaw known as Depth Collapse.

When you pass data through the exact same transformation matrix repeatedly, the network’s internal representations begin to homogenize. The vectors smooth out, losing the high-resolution, specific features extracted in earlier loops. The AI essentially “forgets” the nuanced context of the data by the time it finishes processing. You have a highly compressed model, but its semantic map becomes entirely useless for high-precision retrieval tasks.

This is where DXTech’s proprietary R&D fundamentally separates DeepX from generic open-source adaptations.

Proprietary Magic #1: Per-Loop LoRA

To solve depth collapse without sacrificing our sub-1B parameter footprint, our engineering team developed Per-Loop LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation).

While LoRA is traditionally used for fine-tuning entire models on new datasets, DXTech weaponized the math for internal architectural stability. In DeepX v1.0, each loop iteration within the Hyperloop receives its own dedicated, low-rank adapter (rank 16).

Crucially, this adapter is not just applied to a single attention projection. We apply it across entire 5-layer blocks simultaneously—dynamically modifying the Queries (Q), Keys (K), Values (V), Outputs (O), gate projections, and up/down feed-forward networks all at once.

Why this matters for devs:

By injecting a tiny, loop-specific mathematical shift during every single pass, we give every compute cycle a unique representation identity. The model successfully shares the heavy, primary weights to stay lightweight, but the Per-Loop LoRA forces the transformations to remain mathematically distinct. The AI can loop indefinitely without the representations homogenizing, retaining absolute forensic clarity of the Vietnamese text from the first token to the 8,192nd.

Proprietary Magic #2: Rotary Depth Embedding (RoDE)

If a neural network is reusing the same physical block of weights 10 times to process a document, how does it know which loop it is currently executing?

In standard architectures, models use Rotary Position Embedding (RoPE) to understand the relative position of tokens in a sequence (e.g., Token A comes before Token B). However, RoPE only accounts for sequential position, not computational depth. If the AI doesn’t know “how deep” it is in the recursive loop, it cannot correctly apply context, leading to erratic attention scores.

To solve this, DXTech introduces our second major contribution: Rotary Depth Embedding (RoDE).

RoDE is a novel positional signal engineered to encode the loop iteration depth directly into the attention mechanism. We achieve this by applying a second mathematical rotation on the Queries (Q) and Keys (K), this time based strictly on the iteration index (utilizing 8 specialized rotary pairs).

The Technical Impact:

While RoPE acts as a horizontal GPS (telling the model where a word is in a sentence), RoDE acts as a vertical GPS. It explicitly informs the attention mechanism “how deep” in the neural network it currently resides. This guarantees flawless contextual mapping, ensuring that the model understands the structural hierarchy of a complex Vietnamese legal agreement perfectly.

Output Architecture: Two-Stage Retrieval & Matryoshka Embeddings

Elite architecture inside the model is only half the battle; the output must be optimized for production environments. Enterprise databases require rapid search capabilities, but legal and financial use cases demand microscopic precision.

To bridge this gap, DeepX v1.0 is engineered to produce dual outputs, facilitating a highly optimized Two-Stage Retrieval pipeline:

  • Stage 1: Fast ANN Search (Matryoshka Truncation): DeepX generates a comprehensive 1536-dimensional single vector for the document. However, utilizing Matryoshka representation learning, this vector is designed to be cleanly truncated. Developers can slice this massive array down to a highly compressed 256-d vector while seamlessly preserving ~96% of the retrieval quality. This allows your Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) database to scan millions of documents in milliseconds, slashing your vector storage costs by a factor of six.
  • Stage 2: Precision Late-Interaction Reranking: Once the macro scan retrieves the top candidate documents, DeepX deploys ColBERT token vectors (T×128-d). Instead of comparing single document vectors, ColBERT performs a matrix computation comparing the exact context of the user’s query against every individual token in the retrieved text. This ensures the final reranked output possesses the forensic accuracy required for enterprise risk management.

Moving Beyond the Wrapper

The AI landscape is flooded with teams marketing API wrappers as innovation. But when enterprise developers attempt to deploy these systems into high-stakes, local environments, the lack of foundational R&D immediately exposes itself through OOM errors, hallucinated liabilities, and uncontrollable cloud costs.

At DXTech, we built an AI – Vietnamese embedding that respects the complexity of the language and the hardware constraints of the modern enterprise. By pioneering GDN-2 linear attention, Per-Loop LoRA, and RoDE, we did not just fine-tune a model; we re-engineered the mechanics of semantic retrieval. DeepX v1.0 stands as definitive proof that elite, SOTA AI performance does not require an infinitely expanding hardware budget—it simply requires superior mathematics.
